Tutorials · Beginner How to Create YouTube Content with AI How to create YouTube content with AI: script, SEO title, description, thumbnail and channel strategy to grow without a team, step by step (evergreen).
Knowing how to create YouTube content with AI is a game-changer for solo creators: instead of spending days thinking about the topic, script and thumbnail, you can have everything ready in hours using Claude, ChatGPT and Canva AI, without sacrificing quality.
Tap each step to open it and follow it at your own pace.
Before you start: create a free account on Claude (claude.ai), ChatGPT (chatgpt.com) and Canva (canva.com). You’ll also need a YouTube channel; if you don’t have one yet, YouTube requires a Google account to create it.
1 Define your niche and video format
Before asking the AI for ideas, you need to know what your channel will be about. AI can help you define it if you’re not sure yet.
If you already have your niche defined, skip to Step 2.
If you’re not clear yet, open Claude or ChatGPT and write:
I want to start a YouTube channel. I am [briefly describe your profession or experience] and I'm passionate about [topic]. My potential audience would be [type of person: freelancers, students, entrepreneurs, etc.]. Suggest 3 niche approaches or angles that have demand and that I could stand out with, considering I'm starting from scratch.
Once you have the niche, define the format: step-by-step tutorials, opinion videos, list videos (“5 tools for…”), vlogs, interviews? The easiest format to start with AI is tutorials or lists, because the script flows naturally.
Save in a document:
- The central topic of your channel (1 sentence)
- Your ideal audience (who they are, what problem you solve for them)
- The main format of your videos
- Your tone: formal and educational, casual and fun, or a mix?
This document is the context you’ll give the AI every time you ask for help with the channel.
2 Find topics with demand on YouTube
Publishing without knowing if people search for that topic is the most common mistake on YouTube. Here you use AI alongside free tools to find topics that already have demand.
Method 1: the YouTube search bar
Type your channel’s topic in the YouTube search bar and look at the autocomplete suggestions. Those suggestions are real searches people make. Note the ones that repeat most.
Method 2: VidIQ (free plan)
- Go to vidiq.com and create a free account.
- Install the Chrome extension.
- Search your topic on YouTube and VidIQ will show you the search volume and competition for each video. Aim for topics with medium volume and low or medium competition.
Method 3: ask AI for ideas
Open Claude or ChatGPT and write:
I'm a YouTube content creator about [your niche]. My audience is [describe your audience]. Give me 15 video ideas with SEO-optimized titles that people actively search for. Include for each: the video title, why it has demand and what type of person would search for it.
- From the list the AI gives you, validate the most promising topics with VidIQ or YouTube search before producing the video.
3 Write the script with AI
With the topic chosen, it’s time to write the script. Claude is excellent for this because you can specify structure, tone and length.
- Open claude.ai and paste the context about your channel (from Step 1).
- Then ask for the script:
Write the full script for a YouTube video of [estimated length: 8-10 minutes] about "[video title]". My audience is [describe your audience]. The tone is [casual/educational/motivational]. Structure the script like this:
- Opening hook (first 30 seconds, must hook immediately)
- Brief intro (who I am, what they'll learn)
- Main body (divided into clear sections with subheadings)
- Call to action at the end (subscribe, comment, watch another video)
Use simple language, no jargon. Include transitions between sections.
- Read the full script and adjust:
- Add anecdotes or examples from your personal experience (AI can’t invent those for you).
- Change any phrase that doesn’t sound like you.
- If a section is too long, ask it to trim: “Cut section 2 in half without losing the key points.”
The result: a ready-to-record script with clear structure and a hook that keeps people watching.

4 Create the SEO title, description and tags
The title and description are the two most important factors for YouTube to show your video to the right people. AI can generate multiple options for you to choose from.
For the title:
The video is about "[video topic]" and it's aimed at [audience]. Give me 10 YouTube title options that: are under 60 characters, include the main keyword, create curiosity or promise a clear benefit, and are not false clickbait.
Choose the title you like best that includes the words people search for.
For the description:
Write the YouTube description for the video "[chosen title]". Include:
- An opening paragraph that explains what the video is about (with the main keyword in the first 2 sentences)
- The key points the video covers (in list format)
- A call to subscribe
- 5 relevant hashtags at the end
Total length: between 200 and 300 words.
For tags:
Give me 15 YouTube tags for the video "[title]" aimed at [audience]. Mix specific and more general terms.
Copy these elements and paste them directly into the YouTube upload form.
For more advanced scripting techniques, check the tutorial How to Write Video Scripts with AI.
5 Design the thumbnail with Canva AI
The thumbnail is the first thing people see and determines whether they click or not. Canva has YouTube templates and AI tools that make the process easy.
- Go to canva.com and sign in.
- Search for “YouTube thumbnail” in the templates bar.
- Choose a template that fits your niche (the most effective ones usually have: a photo of you or something relevant, a large clear text with 3-5 words, and contrasting colors).
To use Canva’s AI:
- Magic Write: helps you generate the short text for the thumbnail. Describe the video and ask for 5 options of 3-5 words.
- Image generator (Text to Image): if you don’t have a suitable photo, describe what you need. Example: “person smiling in front of a computer, dark background, professional style”. Results vary; check Canva’s official page for available AI features, as they update constantly.
Rules for a good thumbnail:
- Text readable at small size (as seen on mobile).
- Strong contrast between text and background.
- One single visual idea, not cluttered.
- Minimum resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.
- Download the thumbnail as a JPG file and upload it to the video on YouTube.
Shortcut: the full workflow in one prompt
If you already have the video topic clear and want to do everything at once, use this master prompt in Claude:
Act as a YouTube content expert. I'm making a video about "[video topic]". My channel is about [niche] and my audience is [describe your audience]. The tone is [casual/educational/motivational].
Please generate everything I need to produce and publish this video:
1. FULL SCRIPT (8-10 minutes): with a strong opening hook, introduction, body divided into clear sections and a call to action at the end.
2. 5 SEO TITLE OPTIONS: under 60 characters, with keyword, that generate real clicks.
3. YOUTUBE DESCRIPTION: opening paragraph with keyword, list of key points, call to subscribe and 5 hashtags.
4. 15 TAGS: mix of specific and general.
5. THUMBNAIL TEXT: 3 options of 3-5 words in caps that grab attention.
With this prompt you get everything in one response. Review it, personalize it with your experience and it’s ready to produce.
If something goes wrong
| Problem | Fix |
|---|
| The script sounds generic or robotic | Add specific context: your personal experience, real examples, the exact tone you want. Ask it to rewrite specific parts “more conversational” | | I don’t know what keywords to use for the title | Use the YouTube search bar (autocomplete suggestions are real keywords) or install the free VidIQ extension | | The thumbnail looks cluttered | Reduce the text to 3-5 words and use a maximum of 2 contrasting colors. Less is more with thumbnails | | My videos don’t get views even when I upload frequently | The problem is usually SEO (unattractive title and thumbnail) or the niche. Review the first 2 steps of this guide and adjust your approach | | The AI doesn’t know my specific topic | Give it more context: paste article excerpts, topic statistics or describe what you already know so it can help you better |
