How to Use AI to Find a Job Faster: Resume, Cover Letter and Interviews

Before customizing anything, you need to be clear on your starting point. AI helps you organize your experience in a way that works for different offers.

Open claude.ai or chatgpt.com (a free account is enough to start) and try this prompt:

I have this professional experience and skills:

[describe your experience in informal language: where you worked, what you did, for how long, what achievements you had]

Help me write a professional summary of 3 to 5 lines that I can use as a base for my resume and LinkedIn profile. Write it in first person, clear and without filler phrases.

Save the result. This will be your base profile that you’ll adapt for each offer in the next step.

This is the AI use that makes the biggest difference in your job search: adapting your resume to the exact words of each offer greatly increases your chances of passing the automatic filter (ATS) that many companies use.

1. Copy the full description of the position you’re interested in.
2. Use this prompt:

And this is the job offer I want to apply to:

Help me adapt my resume for this specific offer: highlight the skills and experiences that match what they're looking for, use their keywords and suggest what to adjust. Don't make up experience I don't have.

3. The AI will give you an adapted version. Review it to make sure everything is truthful and sounds like you.

Important: never include experience or skills you don’t have. AI adapts what you have, it doesn’t invent what you don’t.

A personalized cover letter can be the difference between being ignored and getting the interview. AI can draft it in minutes:

The letter should have 3 paragraphs: why I'm interested in this specific position, what concrete experience I have that fits, and a direct closing. Professional but approachable tone, without filler phrases or clichés.

To practice in real time:

Practice at least the 5 questions that make you most nervous. Arriving prepared changes everything.

Job searching is a project, and AI can also help you organize it. Use it to:

• Create a tracker: ask Claude or ChatGPT to generate a Markdown table or list to track each offer (company, date, status, next step).
• Draft a follow-up email: if you haven’t heard back in a week, ask AI to draft a short, professional follow-up email.
• Research the company: “Tell me about [company name]: what they do, what values they declare and what smart questions I could ask in the interview.”

Consistency wins: it’s better to apply to 5 well-personalized offers per week than 50 generic ones.
