Mathematicians Use Meta's Muse Spark to Solve Five Open Math Problems
My take: Meta just published six math papers co-written with its Muse Spark model, and five of them answer questions that had gone unsolved for years, from probability geometry to group theory. What stands out isn't that the AI "figured it out" on its own. It's that the mathematicians used Meta AI's regular chat interface, no special research system, and still reached publishable results.
What catches my attention most is how the work actually got done: researchers guided every step, and a separate group of mathematicians independently checked that each argument held up before anything went to print. That's the real lesson for anyone using AI at work, whether in finance, data analysis or research: the tool speeds up the path, but human verification is still what certifies the final result.
This confirms something I keep repeating: AI doesn't make you smarter, it makes you more efficient. It saves you months of exploratory work so you can spend your time on what actually needs your judgment.
If you work with data, analysis or research in your field, what part of your process could you speed up with AI, knowing the final check is always on you?
