California Orders Its Agencies to Keep Saying 'Artificial Intelligence,' Despite Trump's Rename
My take: While Washington renames AI "Super Intelligence," California just said that on its end, nothing changes: state agencies will keep calling it "artificial intelligence," whatever the federal paperwork says. Governor Gavin Newsom signed the order on September 30 and didn't hold back: "super intelligence is clearly not coming from the White House." It's a good reminder of something we sometimes forget: a tool's name doesn't change what it does for you at work every day.
For anyone using AI to produce more or better, this labeling fight shouldn't distract from what actually matters: continuing to learn how to use it well. A rename doesn't make a tool more powerful or safer; what makes it valuable is how you apply it in your work, your business or your creative projects.
So while governments argue over what to call it, the real question stays the same as always: what are you doing today to use AI more efficiently in your own work?
