How to design a logo with AI
Learn how to design a logo with AI using Canva, Looka and Adobe Express: create a professional logo for your brand in minutes, with no design experience needed.
- Canva
- Looka
- Adobe Express
In this tutorial you will learn how to design a logo with AI using tools like Canva, Looka and Adobe Express. Without any design knowledge and in less than 30 minutes, you can have a professional logo ready for your business, project or personal brand.
Tap each step to open and follow it.
Before you start: All these tools work in the browser; nothing to install. If it is your first time, start with Looka: it guides you step by step with questions about your brand and generates a full logo with color variants, before asking for payment. Confirm the prices and free plan limits on each tool’s official page, as they may change.
1 Choose the tool based on your budget
There are three main options for designing a logo with AI. This table helps you choose based on what you need:
| Tool | Best for | Free plan | Cost for final files |
|---|---|---|---|
| Looka | Full logo with color variants, icons and brand guide | Unlimited free design | $65 one-time (Premium) |
| Canva | Logos integrated with social media content | 28 AI generations/month | $15/mo (Pro) for SVG |
| Adobe Express | Logos with Photoshop and Illustrator integration | Free templates | $9.99/mo (Premium) |
If it is your first time: start with Looka. You design for free, see the full result before paying, and the $65 one-time payment gives you all professional files (SVG, PNG, EPS) with no monthly subscription.
If you already use Canva for social media: the Pro plan adds logos with everything integrated, so you stay in the tool you already know.
If you are in the Adobe ecosystem: Adobe Express Premium gives you 250 AI credits per month with direct integration to Photoshop and Illustrator.
2 Define your brand before generating the logo
Before entering any tool, take 5 minutes to define these four points. AI tools will ask about them, and the clearer you have them, the better the result will be:
- Your brand name (exactly as it should appear in the logo)
- Your industry or business type (e.g. clothing store, marketing consultancy, photography studio)
- The visual style you are looking for: choose between modern and clean, classic and elegant, playful and colorful, minimalist, or tech-forward
- Your brand colors (if you already have them defined, use them; if not, think of 2 colors that represent you)
Why this step matters: if you go in to generate without having this clear, you will waste time testing options that do not fit your brand. With these four points defined, the first result will already be much closer to what you are looking for.
3 Generate logo options
With Looka (recommended for beginners):
- Go to https://looka.com and click Make your logo
- Type your brand name and click Let’s do this
- Looka asks about your industry: select the closest one
- It shows you visual styles: choose between 5 and 10 that you like (you can select multiple)
- It asks about colors: choose from the palettes or enter your own colors
- It asks if you want a tagline: this is optional
- Click Generate logos and wait a few seconds
Looka generates dozens of options. You can click on any to see color variants and explore the horizontal, vertical and icon-only versions.
With Canva:
- Go to https://www.canva.com/ai-logo-generator/ and click Generate a logo
- Describe your business in the text field (e.g. “artisan coffee shop, modern and warm style”)
- Canva generates 4 initial options. You can regenerate or adjust the description to get new variants
With Adobe Express:
- Go to https://www.adobe.com/express/create/logo and create a free account
- Use templates as a starting point or the text-to-image generator if you have a Premium plan
4 Customize the logo until it matches your vision
Once you choose the option you like most, all tools let you enter the editor to adjust the details. Here is what you can change:
Typography:
- Your brand name and tagline use fonts you can change
- Try combining a serif font (elegant, classic) with a sans-serif (modern, clean)
- Avoid using more than 2 fonts in the same logo
Colors:
- Change the color of the icon, name and tagline independently
- If you already have brand colors defined (e.g. on your website or social media), use them here so the logo is consistent
The icon or symbol:
- In Looka you can switch the icon to another within the same style family
- Test the icon-only logo (for favicons or social media profiles) and make sure it looks good at small sizes
Spacing and size:
- Adjust the space between the icon and name if the tool allows it
- The logo should look good both large (website header) and small (profile picture)

5 Download the files in the right format
When the logo is ready, download the files in the formats you will need. This guide tells you which to use for what:
| Format | What it is for | Who offers it |
|---|---|---|
| PNG (transparent background) | Website, social media, presentations | All plans |
| SVG | Printing, embroidery, scaling without quality loss | Looka Premium, Canva Pro, Adobe Express Premium |
| EPS / PDF | Professional printing, large banners | Looka Premium |
| JPG | Light backgrounds, documents | All plans |
In Looka:
- Once you complete the Premium plan payment ($65), you access the full editor
- Click Download and select the formats you need
- Looka downloads a ZIP file with all versions (horizontal, vertical, icon only) in all formats
In Canva:
- Click Share and then Download
- Choose the format (PNG is available on the free plan; SVG requires Canva Pro)
About commercial rights: Looka includes commercial rights in all paid plans. Canva Pro does too. Confirm the current terms on the official page of the tool you use before publishing for commercial purposes.

Shortcut: logo ready in under 10 minutes with Looka
If you already know your brand name, the style you are looking for, and the colors you want, you can have a complete logo to review (before paying) in under 10 minutes:
- Go to https://looka.com and click Make your logo
- Type your exact brand name
- Select your industry from the list
- Choose between 5 and 10 visual styles you like
- Select 2 colors that represent your brand
- Click Generate logos
- Browse the options, click on the ones you like most, and try the color variants
- When you find the one you are looking for, enter the editor to adjust the typography and icon
If the result convinces you, make the $65 payment and download all the files. If not, you can regenerate with adjustments at no extra cost.
If something goes wrong
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| The logo does not reflect my brand style | Select more reference styles in Looka (up to 10) or describe the style in more detail in Canva (e.g. “minimalist, earthy colors, no cluttered icons”) |
| The name appears in a font I do not like | Enter the editor and try other fonts; in Looka you can search by category (sans, serif, script) |
| I cannot download the SVG file | SVG requires a paid plan in all tools; consider Looka Premium ($65) if you only need the logo once |
| The logo colors do not exactly match my brand | Use the hexadecimal code (#RRGGBB) of your brand colors in the editor; all tools accept it |
| The logo looks good large but bad at small sizes | Simplify the design: remove the tagline or reduce icon elements so it is legible at small sizes |
Frequently asked questions
Can I use an AI-made logo commercially?
Yes, in most cases. Looka includes commercial rights in all paid plans. Canva Pro does too. Confirm the exact terms on the official page of the tool you choose before publishing your logo.
Can I get the logo in vector format (SVG)?
Yes. Looka Premium ($65 one-time) delivers SVG, EPS and high-resolution PDF. Canva exports SVG with the Pro plan. Adobe Express Premium also exports SVG. Vector format is essential for printing the logo at large sizes or using it in embroidery.
Can AI create exactly the logo I have in mind?
AI generates options based on your style, color and industry preferences, but it does not work with instructions as specific as a human designer. The result is a starting point you can customize until it matches your vision.
Which tool is best for small business logos?
For a limited budget: Looka at the $65 one-time payment gives professional files with no monthly subscription. If you already use Canva for social media, the Pro plan adds logos with everything integrated. Adobe Express works well if you already use Adobe tools.
Do I need design experience to make a logo with AI?
No. These tools are designed for people with no design experience: they ask about your industry, preferred style and colors, and generate options automatically. You just need to choose what you like most and fine-tune the details.
