How to design a logo with AI

There are three main options for designing a logo with AI. This table helps you choose based on what you need:

If it is your first time: start with Looka. You design for free, see the full result before paying, and the $65 one-time payment gives you all professional files (SVG, PNG, EPS) with no monthly subscription.

If you already use Canva for social media: the Pro plan adds logos with everything integrated, so you stay in the tool you already know.

If you are in the Adobe ecosystem: Adobe Express Premium gives you 250 AI credits per month with direct integration to Photoshop and Illustrator.

Before entering any tool, take 5 minutes to define these four points. AI tools will ask about them, and the clearer you have them, the better the result will be:

1. Your brand name (exactly as it should appear in the logo)
2. Your industry or business type (e.g. clothing store, marketing consultancy, photography studio)
3. The visual style you are looking for: choose between modern and clean, classic and elegant, playful and colorful, minimalist, or tech-forward
4. Your brand colors (if you already have them defined, use them; if not, think of 2 colors that represent you)

Why this step matters: if you go in to generate without having this clear, you will waste time testing options that do not fit your brand. With these four points defined, the first result will already be much closer to what you are looking for.

With Looka (recommended for beginners):

1. Go to https://looka.com and click Make your logo
2. Type your brand name and click Let’s do this
3. Looka asks about your industry: select the closest one
4. It shows you visual styles: choose between 5 and 10 that you like (you can select multiple)
5. It asks about colors: choose from the palettes or enter your own colors
6. It asks if you want a tagline: this is optional
7. Click Generate logos and wait a few seconds

Looka generates dozens of options. You can click on any to see color variants and explore the horizontal, vertical and icon-only versions.

With Canva:

1. Go to https://www.canva.com/ai-logo-generator/ and click Generate a logo
2. Describe your business in the text field (e.g. “artisan coffee shop, modern and warm style”)
3. Canva generates 4 initial options. You can regenerate or adjust the description to get new variants

With Adobe Express:

1. Go to https://www.adobe.com/express/create/logo and create a free account
2. Use templates as a starting point or the text-to-image generator if you have a Premium plan

Once you choose the option you like most, all tools let you enter the editor to adjust the details. Here is what you can change:

Typography:

• Your brand name and tagline use fonts you can change
• Try combining a serif font (elegant, classic) with a sans-serif (modern, clean)
• Avoid using more than 2 fonts in the same logo

Colors:

• Change the color of the icon, name and tagline independently
• If you already have brand colors defined (e.g. on your website or social media), use them here so the logo is consistent

The icon or symbol:

• In Looka you can switch the icon to another within the same style family
• Test the icon-only logo (for favicons or social media profiles) and make sure it looks good at small sizes

Spacing and size:

• Adjust the space between the icon and name if the tool allows it
• The logo should look good both large (website header) and small (profile picture)

In Looka:

2. Choose the format (PNG is available on the free plan; SVG requires Canva Pro)

4. Choose between 5 and 10 visual styles you like
5. Select 2 colors that represent your brand
6. Click Generate logos
7. Browse the options, click on the ones you like most, and try the color variants
8. When you find the one you are looking for, enter the editor to adjust the typography and icon

If the result convinces you, make the $65 payment and download all the files. If not, you can regenerate with adjustments at no extra cost.
