Microsoft Opens Work IQ Preview for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform Data
My take: Microsoft opened the preview of Work IQ, a layer that gives Copilot and its agents one shared reading of a company's Dynamics 365 and Power Platform data (sales, customer service, internal apps). Instead of each agent interpreting information its own way, they all work from the same model of what each piece of data means and how it connects to everything else.
What's interesting here isn't the technology itself, it's what it reveals about where the real bottleneck for AI in business actually sits: it's not the model, it's the quality of the data behind it. Work IQ builds its model from configuration that already exists (views, forms, relationships), so if that configuration is messy or outdated, the agent's answers inherit that mess.
For any business owner or manager evaluating AI assistants for their team, that's a practical reminder: before investing in the most sophisticated agent available, it's worth investing in organizing the systems and data behind it. An AI assistant is only as good as the information it has to work with.
Does your business already have its data organized well enough for an AI tool to give you reliable answers, or is that the real task to handle before automating anything else?
