Anthropic Expands Its Commitment to American Scientific Discovery: $150 Million Over Three Years
My take: Anthropic announced it will invest $150 million over the next three years to bring Claude to more than 15 U.S. federal agencies as part of the Genesis Mission, an initiative to speed up science with AI. The agencies include NASA, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Science Foundation, and the funding covers access to Claude, Claude Code, API credits, training, and technical support for hundreds of research projects on topics like fusion energy and quantum computing.
What catches my attention here isn't the dollar figure, it's the signal: when institutions as large and careful as national laboratories and science agencies start building AI directly into how they work, it stops being a new tool and becomes basic infrastructure. That's exactly what happens in any profession, it looks optional at first, then becomes part of doing the work well.
If the country's most demanding science is already betting on integrating AI into its daily work, it's worth asking how ready your industry, your business, or you yourself are to do the same in your field, even on a much smaller scale.
What part of your work would benefit from having constant access to a powerful AI tool, instead of only reaching for one once in a while?
