Analysis: Trump's 'Super Intelligence Force' has nothing to do with actual superintelligence

My take: This week Trump announced the "Super Intelligence Force," a group that coordinates the government with AI companies. But tech outlet The Decoder made an observation I think is key: that body has nothing to do with what people who seriously research AI call "superintelligence," a hypothetical system that would vastly surpass human intelligence and, as of today, does not exist. The same term "S.I." is now naming two different things at once.

For anyone using AI at work, this matters because the vocabulary confusion has a real cost: if a client, a boss or a reporter reads "Super Intelligence Force" and assumes the government is already regulating superintelligent systems, they're forming the wrong picture of where things actually stand. The AI you use every day to write, analyze or automate is still the same tool it always was, just with a different name in official documents.

I keep the same lens on this: AI makes you more efficient, not more intelligent, and whatever name a government gives it doesn't change what the tool can or can't do for you. If you work with AI daily, are you going by what the tool actually does, or by the day's headline?
