Alberta Government Scans 466 Million Lines of Code with AI in 20 Hours

My take: This Alberta government case study is the kind that marks a clear before and after. The province's Ministry of Technology and Innovation reviewed 1,280 applications and 3,400 code repositories (466 million lines in total) in 20 hours, with around 50 AI agents running in parallel. Without AI, that same work would have taken roughly 6.5 years.

What matters is not just the speed. It is the scale of what an organization can now audit in real time: security vulnerabilities, documentation gaps, misconfigurations across hundreds of systems at once. And AI did not replace the engineers; every fix was reviewed and approved by the team before shipping to production. That is how it is done right.

If you work in technology, security, or any role that involves technical audits, this is a clear signal of where operational capacity is heading. The question is not whether AI-assisted security reviews will become the standard; it is when your organization starts using them.
