Anthropic Restores Claude Fable 5 Globally After U.S. Lifts Export Controls

My take: This one made me happy. After weeks with Fable 5 blocked (the U.S. government banned it because Amazon researchers found a way to use it to expose software vulnerabilities), today, July 1, Anthropic switches it back on for users worldwide. It is like when your landlord cuts your water 'for investigation' and two weeks later turns it back on without even saying sorry 😅. The good news: Anthropic trained an improved safety classifier that blocks that problematic behavior at the root. I use Claude Code every day and felt the gap, and I know I was not alone. For now, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise users get up to 50% of their weekly limits through July 7, then via credits. And how do you switch it on? In Claude (web or app) open the model menu up top and pick Fable 5; in Claude Code, type /model and select it. That is all it takes for your next conversation to run on Fable. When you have the most capable model on the market, the world cannot wait for the paperwork to clear.
