Es la pregunta que más me hacen cuando alguien empieza a usar IA: ¿cuál es mejor, ChatGPT, Claude o Gemini? Y la respuesta honesta es que depende de lo que quieres hacer.
No te voy a decir que uno gana y los demás pierden, porque eso no es lo que pasa en la práctica. Lo que sí te puedo decir es qué hace bien cada uno y cuándo elegiría cada herramienta.
ChatGPT: el más conocido y el mejor para empezar
ChatGPT de OpenAI fue la herramienta que popularizó todo esto, y hay razones para eso. Tiene el ecosistema más grande: miles de tutoriales, plugins, integraciones y casos de uso documentados.
Lo que hace bien:
- Conversación general y respuestas rápidas
- Buscar en internet (con el modo de búsqueda activo)
- Generar código para proyectos pequeños o medianos
- Crear imágenes con DALL-E directamente desde el chat
Es la mejor opción si estás empezando o si necesitas conectar la IA con otras herramientas, porque el ecosistema de integraciones es el más amplio.
Claude: mejor para escribir, analizar y trabajar con textos largos
Claude de Anthropic es mi herramienta del día a día para todo lo que tiene que ver con texto. Documentos largos, análisis complejos, redacción que necesita sonar humana, revisión de ideas.
Lo que hace especialmente bien:
- Leer y analizar documentos largos (PDFs, contratos, reportes)
- Escribir con un tono consistente y natural
- Razonar paso a paso sin perder el hilo
- Seguir instrucciones específicas y mantener el contexto de la conversación
Yo lo uso para casi todo lo que construyo en WandaBuilds: desde borradores de artículos hasta el código del sitio. Cuando necesito que algo suene bien y sea preciso, Claude es mi primera opción.
El único punto a considerar: su acceso a internet en tiempo real ha sido más limitado que el de ChatGPT, aunque eso ha ido mejorando.
Gemini: el aliado natural si ya usas productos de Google
Gemini es la IA de Google, y donde más brilla es dentro del ecosistema que Google ya construyó: Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Meet. Si pasas tu día de trabajo en esas herramientas, Gemini tiene sentido porque está ahí, integrado.
Lo que hace bien:
- Resumir correos y redactar respuestas en Gmail
- Crear presentaciones en Google Slides desde un prompt
- Analizar datos en Google Sheets
- Búsqueda integrada con resultados de Google
Si tu empresa ya paga por Google Workspace, probablemente ya tienes acceso a Gemini incluido. Vale la pena usarlo ahí.
Cómo elegir (sin complicarlo)
La decisión no tiene que ser permanente ni exclusiva. Muchos usamos más de una herramienta según la tarea:

Lo que más importa no es la herramienta
Puedo decirte por experiencia propia que la diferencia entre alguien que aprovecha la IA y alguien que no, rara vez está en cuál herramienta usa. Está en cómo le da instrucciones.
Un prompt vago da resultados vagos. Un prompt claro, con contexto y un objetivo específico, da resultados útiles, sin importar si usas ChatGPT, Claude o Gemini.
Empieza con cualquiera de las tres: ChatGPT y Gemini tienen versiones gratuitas, y Claude también tiene capa gratuita. Pruébalas con una tarea real que tengas esta semana y con eso ya sabrás cuál se siente mejor para ti.

I’m not going to tell you that one wins and the rest lose, because that’s not what happens in practice. What I can tell you is what each one does well and when I would choose each tool.
ChatGPT: the most well-known and the best to start with
OpenAI’s ChatGPT was the tool that popularized all of this, and there are reasons for that. It has the biggest ecosystem: thousands of tutorials, plugins, integrations and documented use cases.
What it does well:
- General conversation and quick answers
- Searching the internet (with search mode enabled)
- Generating code for small or medium projects
- Creating images with DALL-E directly from the chat
It’s the best option if you’re starting out or if you need to connect AI to other tools, because its integration ecosystem is the widest.
Claude: better for writing, analysis and working with long texts
Anthropic’s Claude is my day-to-day tool for everything that involves text. Long documents, complex analysis, writing that needs to sound human, reviewing ideas.
What it does especially well:
- Reading and analyzing long documents (PDFs, contracts, reports)
- Writing with a consistent and natural tone
- Reasoning step by step without losing the thread
- Following specific instructions and maintaining conversation context
I use it for almost everything I build at WandaBuilds: from article drafts to the site’s code. When I need something to sound good and be precise, Claude is my first choice.
The one point to consider: its real-time internet access has been more limited than ChatGPT’s, though that has been improving.
Gemini: the natural ally if you already use Google products
Gemini is Google’s AI, and where it shines most is inside the ecosystem Google already built: Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Meet. If you spend your workday in those tools, Gemini makes sense because it’s right there, integrated.
What it does well:
- Summarizing emails and drafting replies in Gmail
- Creating presentations in Google Slides from a prompt
- Analyzing data in Google Sheets
- Search integrated with Google results
If your company already pays for Google Workspace, you probably already have access to Gemini included. It’s worth using it there.
How to choose (without overcomplicating it)
The decision doesn’t have to be permanent or exclusive. Many of us use more than one tool depending on the task:

I can tell you from personal experience that the difference between someone who takes advantage of AI and someone who doesn’t rarely comes down to which tool they use. It comes down to how they give instructions.
A vague prompt gives vague results. A clear prompt, with context and a specific goal, gives useful results, no matter whether you use ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini.
Start with any of the three: ChatGPT and Gemini have free versions, and Claude also has a free tier. Try them with a real task you have this week, and from that you’ll know which one feels best for you.
